I’ve been asked on several occasions if it’s really possible to make a living online.
When you first start to research making a living in your pajamas, you find so many claims of massive fortunes made on the net.
Most people will have one of two reactions to such claims as “make a 6 figure income, from home, in only minutes a day”. Reaction one will be “sign me up!” because everyone wants to make a 6 figure income while parked in front of their computer. It sounds so awesome. Not having to deal with nasty bosses or irritating co-workers while making $10k/month! Seriously, where does one sign on for that life?
The other reaction is complete distaste. There are many people out there that feel that any opportunity to make money online is a rip off. Some of these peeps may have been involved in an online opportunity in the past, spent their hard-earned money on promises of fame or at least fortune only to fail miserably and hold a grudge.
The truth is that 97% of people who start off in an online biz fail. Often they fail because they do not have a mentor or a are not working with a company that is genuinely interested in their success.
Here’s the kicker (during my research I really noticed this) people who are successful online are excellent networkers and marketers. They are able to get their sites and their opportunity on the front pages of Google and in front of the right kinds of prospects.
When you search out a company chances are you will find their top performers singing the companies accolades and any references to illegitimate claims will be buried down around the 6th page on Google.
That just makes sense right? Expert marketers will have expert ranking on the search engines. That’s how they got to be “experts” in the first place. duh!
So how do you find out if the opportunity you’re looking at is legit?
I like to go the old-school route and check with the Better Business Bureau. The BBB exists in many countries and is non-biased. They do not promote any industry or business but rather collect information on them.
If you have a valid (substantiated by legal documents) claim against a company the BBB will have paper on it (well, not paper if you’re looking online but you get the gist)
Often people are so enamored with the notion of quick riches that they fail to do their due diligence on the company they’re looking at joining. If you’re been burned you may want to ask if you did everything you could to research the opportunity before joining. Betcha you’re gonna say you didn’t check the BBB. Did you? Hmm? Can’t hear you!
After 3 months of 8 hours/day 7 days/week I finally settled on the opp that was right for me. I found a product that I wanted to share with the world. I found a seriously professional mentor in that company that has walked me through, step-by-step, what I need to do to be successful in the business. I treat my business like any new business opportunity and I work it…HARD! And I continue, everyday, to learn more about networking and marketing so I can share my knowledge with others.
Yep, it’s not only possible to make money online, it’s probable (not according to real math, just according to my faith that the people who are serious will succeed)
